Stop Crying Over Spilled Milk

So...I had a Pity Party yesterday. I haven’t had one of those in ages. I was sulking and beating myself up over something that I lost. It hit me like a ton of bricks.

While in my feelings I remembered a lesson I learned long ago from Joyce Meyer which was to “stop crying over spilled milk.” Easier said than done.🙄 In that moment I didn’t want to hear that. I don’t even know how it popped into my head, but it was obviously meant to...

It then occurred to me that when we are still and are quiet, we will hear the right message at the right time to help us get through those unfortunate situations we find ourselves in.

Truth is, what I lost was my own fault. I was mourning, because of the fact that I didn’t act responsibly when I could’ve and I was also devastated because what I lost belonged to someone else, someone so special to me.

Material things can be replaced, I know, but some material things hold more than their monetary value. Some hold memories, meaning, feelings of accomplishment, love, and comfort. The sentiment behind the material things we buy cannot be replaced and in this situation I cannot replicate any of what it meant to us both.😔

But crying about it repeatedly doesn’t bring it back either, nor does negative self-talk. So all that is left is what I will do with this lesson going forward. A lesson I could’ve avoided, but it’s here and I’m learning…regretfully learning.

Whatever has you down or upset- know that it’s not your whole life. It’s a blip in your life and you 𝗰𝗮𝗻 and 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 make it right if you “𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲” that. You 𝗰𝗮𝗻 and 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 learn from every unfortunate experience you go through, if you “𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴” the lesson. ✊

My biggest takeaway is that as long as you live a life filled with creating loving memories, rather than putting emphasis and importance on material things and gifts, you’ll never have to suffer the disappointment of losing something materialistic, because the memories and life experiences are what will always remain and mean more than anything.
